Tamworth … Ural Safe Haven
Uralla, we dropped into Ural HQ to see Clare and Matt, picked up a filter to changed the oil and get the mandatory pic.
With our oil filter in hand leaving from Uralla all was normal, we had a small noise which I had detected being different.
Clare and
Matt from Ural gave us an alternate route to the main drag which was cool, this
ride was very relaxing and scenic so very enjoyable...just what the Kiwis love.
Arriving at
Tamworth our noise had gotten a little louder which was a distance of around 120km so
something not right and coming apart quickly.
My
mechanical skill and ears from being owned by Land rovers I chased the
unwelcome song to the diff (or final drive as it is known).
We had
changed the oil prior and the magnetic bung had an afro of particles, nothing
serious but enough to be mindful.
Arriving at
Noels in Tamworth the noise was getting worse so we decided to drop the oil just to check,
the magnetic bung showing more than what it should unfortunately.
The
decision was made to remove the diff and disassemble it to see if there was an
issue.
On splitting the housing it became apparent pretty quickly there was indeed a small problem, Clare was onto it and was very good and sourced the parts as quick as she could knowing that Skippy was our lifeline, with no time pressure from Noel (as we were weeding his garden) the time went quickly and we were sorted and on our way, big thanks to Clare for hauling out the stops.
The team of surgeons ...more likely thugs LOL.
In between Noel wanted some new socks made locally at Nundle, the wool processing and spinning plant still going strong, everything made of wool there from A to Z.Unfortunately,
the local pie shop was closed and Noel had sung its praises so we had to go for
a plan B…which we had to brew, nonetheless the truck was cool.
Now if you go through Tamworth the Apsley falls are well worth a visit too, we would not have known about theis if it wasn't for Noel.
While being held captive in Tamworth the Film Festival was on so we took advantage of this making the most of the offerings, Noels motorhome roof was leaking so we helped strip out the ceiling and find out where the leaks where, it seemed to be possibly coming in from a couple of points....some sealnt and see.
Noels garden needed some attention as well so in the interests of helping those helping us we did a bit of weeding etc to get the job done, did I mention I love gardening😱
Once released from prison..I mean gardening we bolted south again....
