Doo town, yeap, as it says, will let a pictures say 1000 words each.
On the way down from Doo town a quick stop and walk at hells kitchen with some spectacular caverns.
Tasman National Park, Ranger came along and says gidday which was cool, it is only 8.15 am and the office does not open until 10.00 am.
With this in mind he said how can I help, we explained we were looking for a camp site and had spotted a nice one, he said hey lets check.
As quick as a flash he had opened up and was scouting out the camp site, it came up as booked but they had done a no show, he rung the people and asked them and no they were not coming so he politely gave them a bit of a hurry up about letting the NP know.
We got the site and decided 2 nights was the deal, this meant we could do the Cape Houy lookout walk, that afternoon was supposed to clear but BOM weather again 100% wrong, it just pissed down.
I had to cut trenches in the hard clay gravel mix as the top car turnaround area concentrated an awesome creek like feature down into our site, the rain so intense it was flowing under the tent and as fast as I could divert it it just kept coming.
A fairly quiet night led to bed early for the hike the next day.
Cloud and some sun greeted us in the am, it was still very cold but at least the rain had stopped.
We headed for Cape Hauy, the first part started as a bush walk then quietly transitioned to open sea edge and epic views, making it to the end was a workout with mega amount of steps up and down.
The end plinth to stand on was narrow and there is a sheer drop of a coupla hundred meters, I feel the vertigo near these faces now and this was one my engineering head didn’t like the edges of.
Early lunch and pics done we were homeward bound and arrived back just after lunchtime, then…it rained…and rained…and rained…how unusual.
Needless to say we sort shelter in the bar b q area some 600m away, again early night to bed because of the less than ideal weather.
Next stop Mayfeild Conservation area to help Houston celebrate his 25th birthday, our morning of departure seeing us pack up wet and me put on wet gear, my pants had been laying in the bottom of the sidecar under cover but the rain had snuck in and partly filled the floor, my Klim pants mopping up the excess.
Heading towards Mayfeild again it pissed down, cold and wet from the sidecar mopping I could feel the water running down my rearward fluffy cleavage to the nether regions …so I was a tad uncomfortable, the weather started to abate and the sun came out finally…not before time.
Catching up with Housten and Emily was well cool with good food, nice gin and Canadian Club and great mates.
Sayin goodbye they headed north as they are going back to the mainland and we were heading to Triabunna and onto Maria Island.
