Hello again from Vietnam, interesting times to say the least.

We left China for Vietnam for a breakaway, China had by one way and another driven both of us to the edge for events that were not ideal.

Time to clear our heads, get grounded and concentrate on a few things, time off the moto priority No1.

We left from Nanning, an earlier start to make sure we didn’t miss our bus, we actually made such good time we managed to get on the bus that was about to leave in 1 minute so our efforts paid off well.

The trip to the Vietnam border was a cruise in comfort even with the torrential downpours, exiting China was easy enough, entering Vietnam a little longer as the white face created some interest, no problem…just a little longer to look, look again….stamp etc.

We swapped buses and managed to get none other than the front seats with unimpeded views, that added to the value of the ride being able to see the country with front row views.

We arrived in Hanoi, holy shit it was nutcase, being we arrived in rush hour we opted to walk the 4.6 km to our homestay as we would arrive at the same time if we took a taxi.

Hanoi was a buzz but we came away nick naming it Hanoisy, at the end of each day back to the homestay our ears were ringing like we had been standing in front of nightclub speakers all night.

I tried but the train wasn't coming for ages and I got hungry LOL

It cam and went and the event was over in two minutes but it was cool to be there.

On good advice from a travel agent we stumbled upon we left to Mai Chau, the agent organizing our minivan pickup etc so we knew we would get there.

Mai Chau, very nice destination, tucked deep in the centre of a valley between mountains it was beautiful…at least until you looked into the undergrowth (rubbish).

We arrived the day of a Vietnam National holiday so our first nights accommodation was a bit average for the price with some very optimistic advertising as to the facilities.

Once settled in we walked around the village and surrounds and found a better place….then an even better place with a swimming pool, quiet, comfy etc.

We had planned on staying 1 or maybe 2 nights in Mai Chau but we ended up staying 6 nights and having a great time, we met two coolas young ladies from Spain and we ended up doing a day outing with them.

Also there was amix of Israelis, Frenchies, Germans  and all...quite the mix.
