St Helens, Bay Of Fires, Pyengana, Evandale Penny Farthings

Making our way north again we headed to St Helens to get supplies as Frecynet had depleted everything.

On checking M10 for hats we headed out the front door, two people were looking at Скиппи, we obviously looked suspicious and they asked did we own it, turns out they have a ruby coloured 2022 Gear Up, they said please come up up for a cuppa and see their bike so we did after supplying up, was really coul to see another Ural in captivity.

Thanking them for the hospitality and welcoming lunch we finally headed away mid afternoon with local knowledge under our belt, Bay of Fires here we come.

Bay of fires is stunning with beautiful rocks and lichen fire red in colour, the following day we took a shortcut which again proved to be the longest distance between two points, a large tree blocking out way we had to turn back and go via the main drag or spend twos day cutting the tree with our wee saw…NAH.

Our next part of this very accurately planned mission was to ride the final part of the Ride The Byroads which took us to Eddystone Lighthouse point.

The trip back into the middle was via Gladstone via Tomahawk on the coast and down to Bridport to a camp site at Lillydale, with some fence posts missing at camp we left the main mob of campers and slinked off behind trees for a quiet night, Vis and Lynda our mates in a cruiser had a lesser nights sleep with inconsiderate campers keeping them awake.

Pyengana, cool place to go to see the second tallest falls in Tasmania the St Columbia Falls….and more.
The camp site was very nice with so many places to go from there, with the weather looking to be a bit ruff with thunderstorms predicted we set about doing our day trips based on being able to get back under cover weather dependent of course.

St Columbia Falls, very cool and only a short walk, Ellen had a swim as usual, there are several tiers to this with a punch bole about half way down.

Pub In The Paddock…another cool spot, we arrived at 3.55pm …pub closes at 4.00pm, owner said no stress just leave the glasses outside with the others so everyone was kicked out at 4.00pm and carried on with a coldie outside.

A chat with a coupla lads on a Ducati Daiviel and Indian FTR 1200 was in order then off they went, majestic pub music from 2 big v twins was awesome.

Another waterfall that was a very cool slither on angle across the rocks was photos worthy, returning in the afty to the camp we took a shortcut on the GPS which turned into an off road ride with cool views.

Lastly on our list of goodies was the stamper heads, a fine and well kept set of yesteryear equipment.

Evandale was in our sights for the Penny Farthing racing, with only a small day travel we set off after pumping up our tires from all the gravel work.

Arriving at a servo just shy of Evandale our front tire was going flat and was doughy, checking the tyre for an intruder we couldn’t see anything so we pumped it up and booted it to camp to have a good look, turns out it was a sticky valve which we had problems with prior.

Evandale was more than Penny Farthings, we met the fello who has hand built a 5/8 size perfect scale of a 1940 80 Inch.

The bike racing was awesome with the guys playing for keeps, everything from a slow race to arse whipping challenges.

From Evandale this was to be the start of new friends riding, piss drinking, too much fud, lies and good times….we fitted in well.
